    Jim's training thread

Hey @jimvreeland you've probably seen this short (The Frozen Road) already, but if not, I think you'd enjoy it. I just saw the trailer and I'm going to watch the full short now (24').

What have you done to your bike today?

I didn't have the "bobbing" problem on the fat bike. Maybe because the tire pressure is lower and the air volume higher, so it acts a bit as rear suspension. Not sure what pressure I had on the rear but I know I can't go lower as I bottomed out when I didn't lift my butt in a couple of...

What have you done to your bike today?

Yep, as @qlabrat said, it's a Lauf fork. 60mm of travel, no moving parts, no maintenance, relatively light (1 kg/2.2 lb). It's not a replacement for regular forks but very good for the right application. This will be a touring bike and the fork works well to smooth out washboarded gravel roads...

What have you done to your bike today?

Finally finished it up! At least for now :) I only road it around the block and a bit on a gravel rode but the ride it turned out pretty much how I expected/wanted. Once I ride it more and put bags, aerobars and other stuff on it I'll cut the steerer and maybe shorten the brake hoses a bit...

    Cool camera for biking

It's missing self-stabilization and a few other improvements (more memory, more battery, bluetooth, etc.) but nothing that can't be done with time & money. I can see how in the future the rear camera feed could be projected on the corner of a some sort of google glass, replacing the little...

    LBS to have wheels built?

Well, not that he needs any more recommendations but if there's still any doubts, @jimvreeland build two wheelsets for me. Both exactly how I wanted them (taking into account his valuable advice) in terms of strength, weight, reliability (and looks too). One was for a long bikepacking race. I...

    Crazy Land Rover test

Watch this hybrid Range Rover drive up an insane 45-degree angle staircase Scary just seeing it. In other order of things, I don't think they should lend historic monuments/constructions for this kind of stuff. I'd guess the stairs have to suffer some damage from a big SUV digging and grabbing...

    Climbing Wall

@JimN (is Brandon on the board?), @gtluke I don't know if this goes here. This is the first climbing thread I found... It looks like fun: https://futurism.com/videos/these-projections-turn-rock-climbing-into-a-real-live-video-game/

What have you done to your bike today?

Started with the most tedious part of assembling the bike today - routing the cables through the frame, and later shorten the brakes hoses. I tried to re-route the cable guide for the RD cable so it would enter the frame on the NDS, as it normally does, but I couldn't. It looks like internally...

    Strava followers

MG is Mato Grosso state, "midwest" Brazil, part of the Amazonas area. I have no idea where Pirapentiga is. EDIT: Oops, my memory failed me. MG is Minas Gerais, right next to Mato Grosso, to the East.

What have you done to your bike today?

Thanks! Will see if I can use my old Garming cadence sensor with a small/flat magnet first. This is next if I can't get that to work.

What have you done to your bike today?

Yes, I knew from reviews that they run small but I was still surprised. In fact, if you look at the pic you'll notice I'm able to run the tire in the "27.5 position" hole for a shorter chainstay, and still have room to spare. BTW, my rims measure 39mm internally.

Great idea! I had one laying around. I hope I didn't threw it away...

What have you done to your bike today?

A little progress today with La Mula (the mule :)). I re-installed the crankset. I had to remove all spacers on the non-drive side. The clearance is minimal and I think if I were to stand up on a hill with a loaded bike (high torque situation) the cranks will rub the chainstays. The other thing...

What have you done to your bike today?

I was going to add that I would not recommend to buy from him at all. Horrible experience. He was worse than zero value added over buying directly from a Chinese company/dealer. On paper/ online, the description of the value he adds sounded very good but the reality is that he just sends the...

What have you done to your bike today?

I got this one on Pinkbike, from a guy in Georgia that "distributes" these an other frames and carbon parts for some Chinese company. The quality seems OK, a little below what I expected. The finish/details seem to be of less quality relative to good Chinese rims (Nextie, Light Bicycle...

What have you done to your bike today?

I started putting together a new bike this weekend. Is going to be a bikepacking/touring bike. Got off a several hiccups but I made some progress. The frame is a Stache knock-off: I'm going to try a carbon split seat-tube seatpost to try and get a little suspension to help the 29+ rear tire...

Just catching up now. CONGRATULATIONS JIM!!! I can't imagine a worse nightmare to start. Great job dealing with the unexpected and getting the job done.
